![]() I didn't finish it, but I probably got about half-way. If it weren't for the seventeen laps around Tallon IV I had to toward the end of the game, then it'd be a solid 8 / 10. At some parts, particularly in the latter half of the game, I felt they got a bit lazy with making the progression points obvious enough to stick out in the player's mind they were kind of just in "a room", and you had to somewhat guess as to where that room was. That made it really bad when you were wandering around the whole world trying to find the one door hidden in the far corner of a region that let you progress any further. It's not truly "inter"-connected, in that way, and the lack of fast-travel points further emphasized the issue. Tallon IV is kind of like a gigantic ring shape, which means that if you wanted to get from one side of the ring (Phendrana Drifts) to another (Phazon Mines), you'd have to literally travel the distance around. But on top of that, I think the other problem comes from the world layout. Samus isn't particularly fast in her standard running movement, and I tended to rely on morphball mode (along with the boost ball, once it's acquired) to get around faster. My main issue was just the fact that it was a rather tedious game to play. I think it does a great job of translating what makes a metroidvania experience good into 3D. But I finally did, and I really quite enjoyed it. I tried many times, but I just never seemed to be able to commit to it past like the opening on the Space Pirate Frigate. I'm pretty such since the year it was released, or within a year or two after that. I did play all the way through Prime 1 for the first time last year, after owning the game since. Since I don't own all of them currently, it'll make it easier to play the entire series, including 4, whenever the day comes that I finally get a Switch. ![]() I'd been hoping that they would do this: remasters of the original trilogy for the Switch. It was awesome seeing that surprise reveal.
